About the SEDG Cell
The
SEDG Cell has been established to ensure that students
belonging to Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs)
are provided with a safe, secure environment and equitable access to
quality education in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs). This
initiative aligns with the vision and guidelines of the National
Education Policy (NEP) 2020, formulated by the Government of
India.
Objectives of the SEDG Cell:
- Inclusive Education: Ensure inclusive access to education
for students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Support Mechanisms: Provide support systems such as
scholarships, mentorship, and counseling to address the specific
needs of SEDG students.
- Safe Environment: Create a safe and secure campus
environment free from discrimination or bias.
- Capacity Building: Organize capacity-building workshops and
skill enhancement programs for SEDG students.
- Compliance with NEP 2020: Implement strategies that adhere
to the NEP 2020 guidelines, promoting equity and accessibility in
higher education.
Functions of the SEDG Cell:
- Identify SEDG Students: Maintain a database of students
from disadvantaged groups to ensure targeted support.
- Advocacy and Awareness: Conduct awareness programs to
sensitize the college community about the challenges faced by SEDGs.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly monitor the
effectiveness of initiatives and suggest improvements for better
outcomes.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with government bodies, NGOs,
and industry stakeholders to enhance opportunities for SEDG
students.
